The Coon Rapids Police Department solicits applications for our roster on a yearly basis. The roster process includes a written exam, in-person interviews with police department staff, and in-person interviews with the Civil Service Commission. The roster is used to hire officers for open positions and is valid for 1 year.
The written exam is the IPMA-HR Entry Level Police Officer test. Study guides can be ordered through IPMA-HR
The Coon Rapids Police department periodically hires unpaid interns during the school year or summer. Applicants must be current students in Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, Sociology or Psychology that require students to complete an internship as part of their degree program.
Law Enforcement Interns will gain experience and knowledge in all aspects of law enforcement, crime prevention, and community engagement. Internship schedules are flexible and may include nights and weekends.
