Crooked Lake Park
Reconstruction is nearly complete at Crooked Lake Park (13180 Crooked
Lake Boulevard). Due to high demand, the existing fishing pier will be
refurbished and a second fishing pier will be added slightly north along the
shore. The entire park project is expected to be complete in October. Picnic
shelter reservations will not be available until 2019. The new park
Construction has begun at Riverwind Park (11747 Crocus St.).
The park is unusable in 2018. Improvements will include:
and Pickleball courts
The Riverwind Park community building has been a topic of
conversation for several years. The challenge was trying to determine if the
building should be demolished or renovated. Based on input from the Parks and
Recreation Commission and the City Council, it was decided to keep the building
as a community space and renovate the areas of the building that need immediate
attention, which is the entrance area and west side of the building (where the
former Teen Center was located). Improvements to this specific area will
include new air conditioning, new furnace, window and door replacements, LED
lighting, new flooring, bathroom upgrades, improved insulation and roof
replacement. The entire building will have exterior stucco rehabilitation and
painting. Any repairs to the interior of the east side of the building will be
decided at a later time. In addition, site improvements are also required to
connect the new park improvements to the building, which include additional
removals, irrigation revisions, and sidewalk and trail connections. The total budget for these project additions
is approximately $345,000 and will be paid for out of park improvement funds.

(149 120th Lane), Vineyards Park (11947 Vintage Street) and Prairie Oaks Park
